Leon Levy Visitor Center at Conservatory Gate comprises pavilions, plaza, promenade and pool—an elegant transition from urban surroundings to the pastoral expanse. Fusing architecture and nature, seeking the lightest interruption in the landscape, the buildings have curved roofs that soar above the plaza, and their glass walls frame views of hills and historic conifers. The pavilions house ticketing and a café; a bookshop and plant store; and two restroom facilities.Comprised of regional materials, the buildings have undulating roofs and glass walls, making the visitor center a visually integral part of the landscape. Plazas and pathways are interspersed with landscaping to accommodate foot-traffic patterns and to ensure the complex forms an integrated whole.
