Echo Investment has commissioned Kontekst Retail Design to develop a universal food lounge concept for its malls and shopping centers.
"The concept of a food lounge was inspired by Japanese rock gardens. Shopping centers are often perceived as a modern theatre of consumerism, whose manifestation is an increasing pace of life. Our intention was to create inside the center an alternative to life's constant bustle, a place of tranquility, with an atmosphere conducive to the calm of Zen", says Krzysztof Tłuszcz, creator of the concept.
"We implemented Koncept Food Lounge Echo for the first time in the Galeria Sudecka in Jelenia Góra. Its aim was to develop an internal, central square in the mall, designated for gastronomy points. As with the majority of other concepts created by our company, Food Lounge Echo is a system solution which can be implemented in any shopping center. Its main advantages are mobility and modular reproducibility of elements that facilitate expansion and rearrangement", adds Henryk Tłuszcz, co-creator of the concept and co-owner of Kontekst Retail Design.
The area – over 300 m2 – is divided into two parts: 3/4 is devoted to high seating; and 1/4 is devoted to low seating. The restaurant-bar area is equipped with high furniture enabling easy consumption of meals. Single tables are separated by tall greenery, and for families with children are arranged in pairs. The common area is divided by openwork screens. Relaxation seating is located on an elevated platform. The elevated platforms, connected in series and surrounded by screens, are furnished with cushioned seats and coffee tables. The openwork partitions, atmospheric lighting, and greenery in ceramic pots ensure desired intimacy for customers seeking refreshment or relaxation. A characteristic feature of Kontekst projects is an open arrangement that blends the project area in with its surroundings. In this way, the food lounge became part of the two-story interior of the Galeria Sudecka. This feeling is intensified by the wooden floor, laid according to a reproducible pattern that continues throughout the entire surface of the premises. In order to obtain greater project consistency, the sofas, cushions, screens, and platforms used have been designed by Kontekst.
By providing intimacy and access to natural light, and using friendly materials, greenery, and atmospheric lighting, the food lounge in the Gallery Sudecka, in addition to its main function, has also become an ideal place for business meetings and social events.
