We proceeded from innermost folk
traditions, sacredly for bending their presence, but using sophisticated technologies
we propose an Architectural glance on the Future. This Museum is a living body…
incompleted arrangement, which will be refined through time and spaceindependent of us (and our wishes). It is
part and parcel of the history: past day, present day, next day of Afghanistan.
- Having embodied “this” we perceived,
that impossible was possible! It is impossible to halt the moment. However, any
exhibit of the history, culture or art is precisely the halted moment, each
time coming to life before us, desirous of learning.
- Museum is like a symbol of revival, a
manmade peak of the mountainous country, created by gifted hands of local
builders. Height of this peak is immeasurable. Symphony of its inner space,
filled with fastidious Oriental melodies, inherent in each individual corner
unites the whole interior into organic whole, which is both complex and simple.
“Beginning” and “end” here are elusive: here, we feel the presence of infinity.
Here our essence presents itself… and having visited this complex an individual
begins his/her path to history, to present and future. We propose anyone to
rejoice the manmade park, rising from the remote past, when the word “Paradise”
originated in the East and entered all languages of the world as “Garden of
Eden”, which in Persian language means enclosed, well-tended corner of the
Nature. Such perception of the entrance to the Museum complex gains prominence
by the image of integral, but incompleted structure, which reminds us the
living fabric around Kabul, residential fabric of local houses at foothills.
The proposed park becalms after urban fuss, unquiet background of Afghanistan;
accentuated safety is further enhanced by the aesthetics of Oriental courtyard
inside the complex enclosed by high walls. Presence of long pathway in the park
does not wear visitors down, but on the contrary, gives anticipatory
expectation of the encounter with history of Afghanistan. Each visitor is free
to choose his/her route of journey into this space, orientating himself/herself
without any difficulty due to openness of inner space of the Museum and
state-of-the-art navigation technologies (plasma screens, touch panels, etc.)
The technologies will inevitably develop, vivifying and transforming interior
spaces. Guides, audio-accompaniment and screens accentuate your attention and
guide you in proper direction. Galleries (divided by themes), places for
pausing in the form of spaces opening towards inner (round) courtyards with
waterfalls and trees are thematic (history of the nation, art, science,
religion), dramatics, poetic contests (mushoiras), plays involving the use of
panoramic projections onto walls and facades, sound-noise effects
(participation effect) using of 3D projections
and holographic images, abundance of greenery both indoors and outdoors
– these are suggestions, using which our design intends to achieve maximum
effect from the Museum’s space. The Museum will renovate sensations and expand one’s
conscious. You will cover your own short path for the time being and inevitably
you will take with you scintilla of this amazingly beautiful country in the
form of impressions from what you have seen, souvenirs, photographs, discs,
books, posters, and most importantly, and that is only the beginning, you will return to the Museum, you
will return without fail.
