Type
The museum's appearance was inspired by the traditional comic book layout, though it is organized in a clear and useful manner.
The galleries are glowing boxes covered in LEDs, which announce
and give examples of the current show on display. Their interiors are
more organic, reflecting the dichotomy of the comic book itself, an
organized structured exterior filled with imagination.
The upper floors float above a landscape that extends beyond the
building property out across the streets announcing itself to passing
cars and pedestrians. This green surface extends up and over the
adjacent building to create an elevated park, where movies are shown on
summer evenings. Landscaped walls hide the rush of cars on Delancey
Street and the parking lot across Norfolk Street. It's an unlikely, but
peaceful scene for the visitors.
