Mixed use center for mentally disabled people

Firm
 We
had a competition to design a mixed use center for the mentally disabled
people Under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Ra'ad bin Zeid, Chief
Chamberlain and President of the Higher Council for the Affairs of Persons with
Disabilities (HCAPD). The site is about
12,800 meters squared, the project contains housing units, a multipurpose hall,
restaurant, workshops, seminar rooms, guest house,
showroom, mini-golf area, camping site, basketball court and
administration. The clients are looking forward to choose the best project for
implementation, it is called Center of Hope. I'm going to discuss briefly what
I did, I used pure geometrical forms which have symbolized a vision
of the universe that transcended regional cultures. By allowing geometry and
abstraction to exist in symbiosis, multivalency occurs, the ability of a single
item to represent more than one thing at once. Creates multiple interpretations
of experience. Buildings through their form and materials create vernacular
expressions in a contemporary way.
