Ma Vie La is located on the highest point of Paşalimanı in Çeşme. The birdseye vantage point commands over the Bay of Ilıca. For those familiar with Çeşme, the panorama starts from the Sheraton Hotel, continuing on with Yıldızburnu, The Golden Dolphin Hotel, Aya Yorgi Bay, Dalyanköy, Chios Island, Onuisses Island, Donkey Island and ends with Karaburun, in a 180 degree sweep. Sunsets behind Chios Island are enjoyable from all the floors of Ma Vie La.
Ma Vie La has a very unique minimalist design. We have done away with everything that could be left out. Everything else has a function and where possible, more than one. The shape of the building, the 8 meter overhang cantilever superstructure unique in Turkey and comprising half the length of the superstructure, the sizes, positions and shapes of the windows, everything is designed purposefully and to fulfil specific needs. Both the exterior and interior details are custom designed and hand-crafted. With the exception of electrical and plumbing work, fixtures, window frames, toilet seats and one of the kitchens, nothing is standard manufacture. From the cor-ten steel cladding to the marble bathrooms and the custom woodwork, the craftsmanship and attention to detail is prominent. The layout of the house and the landscaping design was dictated by pure enjoyment and lifestyle goals.
Ma Vie La's location is perfect for taking advantage of the prevalent North-West winds that Çeşme is famous for. It almost never gets too hot here. The orientation of the house is designed so that cooling is done naturally and effectively, almost never requiring the air conditioning units to be turned on.
Ma Vie La is built on a steep slope. The shape of the land dictated the unique form of the house, as per the strict “form follows function” design mentality. Unusual and unique architectural and engineering solutions have given the house a striking aesthetic appeal. These same radical solutions also enabled the house to offer large and efficient living spaces. The most evident design feature of Ma Vie La is it's 8 meter overhang cantilever superstructure. Two floors of the building containing two bedrooms and almost all of the livingroom and terrace appear to hang in the air. The cantilever decision is purely functional and allows for a larger garden and more open spaces by minimizing the building footprint. Another design decision, namely doing away with the pool walls in favor of using the building façade and the property walls to create a swimming pool, has given us a 22 meter long and 90 square meter lap pool without using any garden area.
Some other functional design features include the following: Placement of windows based on ideally framing the views, reducing heat from the sun during the summer and increasing light availability in the Winter. Collecting rain water during the Winter in an 80 ton tank for irrigation during the Summer.
The 440m2 Ma Vie La has a 120 square-meter livingroom with a fireplace, adjacent open kitchen and a washroom. There are 5 bedrooms, 3 with own bathrooms. Additionally, the house has two general bathrooms. The second kitchen is located on the pool terrace floor for convenience. Along with the streetside terrace on the top floor, Ma Vie La offers a variety of indoor and outdoor spaces to be enjoyed, no matter what mood, season or time of day.
