This interfaith chapel is built on a lakeside within the piney forests of Bastrop, Texas just outside Austin, at the Lost Pines Boy Scout Camp. The latter trout commissioned to building. The open air structure hosts all manner of religious gathering from Muslim to Buddhist , from Christian to Judaic.
Open and accessible the chapel inspires meditation and reflection. Oriented east to west the gate-like structure frames a view of the setting sun across the lake. In the evening the wooden members are set a glow by the setting sun. Working closely with a local saw mill standard-sawn cedar members were chosen during the design of the building. The chapel is composed of repeated wood members that vary in their rustication from the lower members increasing in their refinement upward. The buildings structure allows it wooden and steel frames to move with the wind.
