The Kensington Creative and Performing Arts High School, designed incollaboration with SRK Architects, was built for the School District of Philadelphia as a turnkey project by AP/BSI Construction, a joint venture. The goal of LEED Platinum certification was met through the incorporation of many sustainable concepts including on site water cycling, green roofs, geothermal HVAC and hot water systems, extensive daylighting, energy efficient building envelope and a revolutionary “recycled landscape”, which will feature demolition and found materials from the original Fishtown site. The building and site allow ample community use of theater, athletic and academic facilities.
