As part of a major renovation of this historic hospital founded in 1887, HOK felt it was vital to bring the hospital's history and charm to the general community. Their idea of creating a huge glass facade depicting iconic murals from inside the hospital could be implemented only one way: with digital in-glass printing using weather-resistant digital ceramic inks. The full-color building facade made of 429 glass panels faithfully replicates the colors and style of 1930s Harlem art and culture; it stands up to New York's famous weather extremes; and it looks equally good from inside and outside, in daytime and at night.
