At this time when the cities can no longer waste virgin lands for the
management of their urban structures, it is necessary to experiment
new ways, including the use of subsoil for the urban densification,
protecting public spaces and green gardens.
The hypogean extension of the Hannah Arendt school of Bolzano,
located in the old Capuchins cloister, falls into this field of
experimentation proposing a three floor, 15 classrooms and 12000mc
totally hypogean building.
After four years of efforts, in design and construction, this
unexpected design hypothesis has been realized.
