TOPOS Architects was hired to remodel and completely upgrade this Palo Alto townhome. The primary design focus was to bring light down to the first floor. The second floor landing was replaced with glass and an extended skylight the length of the stairway was put in, the doorways to both rooms were widened (letting in more light from the tall windows) and the second floor bathroom was moved away from the wall, opening up another light well from the high 2nd floor ceiling. The changes really opened up the townhouse and let light in all throughout to the first floor.
