The shooting forums project for TV Azteca consisted in bringing together all of the TV company’s resources in one single place. Shootings that previously took place in forums or leased locations can now be done here—reducing the costs previously generated by logistics, transportation and dead time issues. In order to achieve this, we increased the density of an area that had no specific purpose originally; it was however conveniently located at the back of the existing forums and had the necessary features for recreating a public square—where services could be provided for workers and actors, equally. Thus, an unusual arrangement of forums, on two different levels, came about and resulted in an unusual exercise on acoustic structure and mobility.
AT103 aims to connect public and private spaces in such a way that they can be experienced in out-of-the-ordinary ways. In other words, making one single space capable of generating new experiences, sensations and atmospheres. In this case, the formal project was the result of extruding a relationship flowchart with internal and external programs: seven forums, backstage dressing rooms and makeup area, technical audio, video and programming booths, sitting areas, coffee shop, lounge, VIP area, parking area, lifts, terraces, courtyards, gardens and heliport, plus rooftops that may be used for shootings, special events or simply as sitting areas.
The black terracotta material chosen for the forums’ exterior brought the set together. Lattices were utilized as inlets for natural light and ventilation, creating some degree of communication with the exterior.
