The goal of the project
was to give the growing beach community a multi-use facility for community
functions.  At the heart of the island,
the center is home to the Whyte Hall Theater, meeting rooms, a medical clinic,
a large covered deck and a second floor apartment for a visiting doctor.  In exchange for free accommodation the
visiting doctor provides medical services to the community.  Atop the tallest building in the Pines, the
doctor’s studio has excellent views of the entire island, is equipped with a
full-sized bath and kitchen and has an outdoor terrace
