The lexicon determines the semantic field of the message and, in this architectural message, we lack “learned words” as multilayered glass or structural silicone. It is popular and direct terminology: hardware store language. With this list, we can go to any local hardware store and come out with the necessary elements to build a CH. It is difficult to make a mistake because none of the components have been modified: they are all standard. The CH recovers the industrial sense of this word fleeing IKEA’s world–that Rem Koolhaas situates in the fourth position of the globalization elements– and reinterpreting the systems of the Swedish company. We affirm the democratic standardization of design through the ready-made. It’s not a question of taking up again neither Povera-Art nor eco-design, nor using recycled materials, but of reviving objects through perversions of design; thus installations leave their functional austerity and jump to the world of the formal thing, coincidental and why not, of their plasticity. We are not speaking of constructive bareness but of purpose of assembly. We can build a “polyethylene-foam-rolls-andnylon- flanges-sofa”, giving a new use, a new context and a new logic to existing low price industrial elements. It is a matter of operating with eco-logic. “Ecology” takes its “eco” from eco-nomy; thus, rural ways of life are ecological by its scrupulous economy of media and not by worrying obsessively about environmental issues. We are located in a low–tech environment. Need moves architecture into the market, and in this case the economic requirements for the project were clear: initial budget almost zero. In this situation problematic issues should be understood like an area of opportunity; we present global architectural solutions of low technology and accessible materials, produced by a team of non-specialized workers.
