A conceptual project of a recreational year-round habitable semi-lonely object situated in the wild landscape of Czech Stredohori. We call the project "conceptual" as we used and continue using this building as an experimental area, which we verify some architectonical and spatial principals on. At the beginning of this project the following specifications were defined:1. the very lowest acquisition costs of the construction2. maximal usage of local human and material sources (eventually also energetical)3. concept of an open house - an absolute erasure of the border interior/exterior while keeping basic user comfort of the building4. optimalisation of the standard of comfort of an object - that means definition of such comfort of using a building, which is necessary and comfortable for an individual, but in no way excessiveFor realisation of the building a piece of land of a former barn was chosen, from which only fragments of circumferential walls were preserved. For aesthetic reasons we decided to keep the fragments in place and to integrate the building into them. So a composition of a semi-open courtyard with a head-on placed residential object arose. The new building is protected on the north side by the original massive stone wall, which forms a sort of entrance lee of the object. The building itself opens completely by the means of five gates into the area defined by the remaining circumferential walls of the former barn, thus demarking the private garden of the object against surrounding wild vegetation. Thanks to the fact that the whole of the south facade can be opened it is possible to spend time outside without losing the comfort of the interior. When the south of the facade is closed, the interior gets enough light and sunshine through the large capacity western window and at the same time the interior of the building is protected from overheating by the southern sunshine. The whole building was realized with local material sources (wood, recycled material of the original barn) and by local suppliers. In the close future it is planned to reach energetic self-sufficiency (a well and a sewage disposal plant have already been realized. Fotovoltaic and solar panels are planned to be installed). The design of the whole building was projected so that it would be realizable by common available methods and with low acquisition costs. Significant economies were reached by maximum reduction of the extra-construction transport and equipment of the building site. After the agreement of the owner we will regularly evaluate the project and on the base of working experience upgrade and develop it.
