COCOON
After a period of metamorphosis, the butterfly gets out of its cocoon and flies in the conquest of freedom. This period of imprisonment awarded her wings needed to explore the world from new perspectives.
The cocoon is the shelter where some species make their metamorphosis. Is inside it that these creatures evolve till the end of the long stage of their evolution. Inside the cocoon species have a better and more evolved version of life. The life that, after all, should then continue in society and in full freedom.
Weave a cocoon from a wire is perhaps the most complicated stage of the whole process of building this organism.
To transform the complex filaments in fabric/walls it is necessary to interlace the wires through the weaving. The technique is clear: create through a continuous process of weaving, a protected space that is both closed and fragile. In these wool walls we fixed the origami creating a very cozy interior space. In the end, with the joint effort of those who produced the origami and who weaved this tangle of wires, (a web that can protect us in an internal space of reflection), we expected that one day happened a beautiful metamorphosis.
There is an interplay between people and things. It is with this that we identify ourselves as architects. There is the magic of the real things that leads us to always think differently. Architecture always starts with this direct contact with people, with their different realities and daily concerns. We thought the cocoon as a space that integrated all these people around a unique and unrepeatable event. We took the right amount of steel and another quantity of wool yarn and yet we joined the rigor of the origami in order to close the cocoon. What more could we want? We just needed the right density of people to build the piece together.
