The “Raul House” is a weekend house, located in the mountains around the Aculeo Lagoon, 60 km. away from Santiago. The project proposes that the program is developed in a single level as a continuous space, thus achieving amplitude and flexibility.
The house is located on a steep slope on a hillside that offers awesome views and is protected from the sun and the rain in every season.
Since cost was a relevant point that influenced the design and construction process, the challenge was to develop an interesting project only with basic materials and technology. The structure is a combination of concrete pillars for the base, and steel and wood structure for the rest. The whole interior is covered in pine wood, which was used as plates. The interior of the house is white, in order to augment luminosity. However, the exterior coloration is dark, so that the house and the landscape can merge as a single component.
