The Calvary Church (Lancaster, Pa) Lobby Renovation project was designed by Sims Architects, and construction completed in September 2014. It included a 12,000 square foot renovation of the existing space, which increases the usable space of the lobby by 25%. New windows allow for much needed additional natural light from existing courtyards. All existing lighting was replaced with new LED lighting to brighten the space. A complete ceiling redesign was done in order to gain additional ceiling height and to accent the main travel path between the east entrance and west entrance. The once centrally located Welcome Center now exists at both the East and West ends of the Lobby Space, making it easier and quicker for newcomers the get oriented. A fireplace lounge replaced the old Welcome Center, making it comfortable and convenient to grab a cup of coffee on a Sunday morning. Additional rooms were created out of coat rack rooms, which included one of the Welcome Centers, a Family Comfort Room, and a Meeting Room. Sims Architects also custom designed the Welcome Center kiosks and Coffee Counter kiosks.
