With construction completion planned for 2016, the 11-story Brigham Building for the Future will house eight floors of research laboratories, two floors of clinics, a state-of-the-art imaging facility, a conference and teaching center, and a 400-car garage, along with associated site improvements. It connects to the existing hospital campus via the “Pike,” a quarter-mile-long pedestrian circulation system, which the new building now anchors.
Designed to achieve LEED Gold certification, the Building for the Future includes an innovative façade and massing that bring much-needed daylight into the building. Sunshades on the exterior allow occupants to modulate daylight in accordance to their needs.
The flexible clinic plans are designed to maximize collaboration between disciplines and advance discovery. For instance, the neuroscience floor will integrate clinicians from 13 sub-specialties, providing the highest quality of full, “one-stop,” multidisciplinary care for patients with complex conditions.
