The Hindustan Unilever campus is located in Andheri, Mumbai on a 12.6 acre site. The site is significantly contoured with a large number of trees. A conscious effort was made to break up the program into smaller components in an attempt to respond to the topography and the existing trees. The design intent was to create a cohesive and vibrant work environment with generous access to natural light and views. The design focus was to formulate spaces that encourage interaction and collaboration. The heart of the campus is a dramatic linear atrium space which has been christened as 'the street'. The Street represents the crux of the design philosophy which is aligned to Unilever's theme of Vitality. All offices and laboratories open out onto the street which public functions on the ground level and breakout spaces on the upper levels. The street is a transition space linking different departments with bridges at various levels. The entire campus has been designed as a green campus which has received certification from IGBC and TERI.
