The attic of a 1920s detached villa in the Munich district of Hartmannshofen was turned into an open and modern residence. To maintain the quality oft the roof truss, all fittings were matched to its shape. The dark etched acacia furniture is subordinated to the geometry of the space. The characteristic shape of the roof design is highlighted and accentuated by the indirect illumination on the flanks of the vault. The elaborate restoration of the existing hardwood floors coupled with the addition of box-type round-arched windows at the narrow sides of the house created a link to the origin of the old building, strengthening its character. The spatial transitions are flowing, the slightly set back furniture accommodates perception of the entire space with the sliding doors closed, resulting in a generous spatial experience.
