Aqua Arena is a part of modern sports and leisure center "X-BIONIC sphere" in Samorin, Slovakia. The center, covering more than 100 hectares, offers excellent year-round background for sport enthusiasts on professional and amateur level, leisure and social events including congresses.
The sports and leisure center is comprised of Hipo Arena, Aqua Arena, Sports Grounds and Hotel creating a well thought-out mix of facilities of highest standard.
The urban concept is based on central axis connecting all parts and facilities of the center. This green promenade is serving both pedestrians and cyclists.
The entire architectural design of Aqua Arena is dependent on the functional layout - entrance hall with changing rooms, pool hall – all sharing principles of openness, transparency and attractiveness for the public.
The shape of the pool hall - derived from the shape of a water drop - is accentuated by the glulam beams fully visible as subtle ribs supporting the roof.
The main focal point for the guests is the unique water-slide tower in the form of helical, DNA-shaped staircase constructed of thermally modified ash timber and stainless steel.
25m interior and 50m exterior swimming pool with facilities and ancillary areas are fully equipped to accommodate international sport events. The main tribune situated to the west of the 50m pool is accessible to the public and it is designed to provide spaces for 2000 viewers during sporting event.
