This popular community park was the first to be developed by the Johnson County Park and Recreation District in 1958. A new master plan and subsequent improvements designed by Bowman Bowman Novic, Inc. in 2005, represent the park’s first comprehensive renovation in 45 years.
The nearly $2.2 million project involved the restoration of two lakes and the addition of a perimeter trail system that enables park users to be immersed in the park’s naturalistic setting. The lakes now incorporate extensive wetland plantings that have restored water quality and natural habitat. Other new features include; a lakeside boardwalk, formal drop-off area, large entry pavilion, playgrounds, rock climbing feature, and expansion of the existing Dodge Town play area.
