Relaxation in different places is fun! Introducing the outdoor living space Albang.
We always dream to travel and rest in different places. This project was planned to be a new space that is not a hotel, tent, or RV. The space looks like a giant egg and can move so you can go anywhere you want to stay. The designer wanted to suggest a maximum space with minimum things.
Although small, eight of the uniformly placed Albang provide architectural fun. All Albang look the same, but each has a different color on the door for its own unique characteristics and is referred to by that color. Albang looks like a sculpture but isn’t characterized as such. It has a meaning all to itself with peculiar ambiguity.
We used environmentally friendly materials, mainly expanded polystyrene (EPS). It is economical, light, insulating, mobile, incombustible, and waterproof. Moreover, it has seismic, aerodynamic, and convection effects, so it can be used safely.
We obtained a patent for this design and are planning to continue to build Albang.
This project is also important because Albang is made by hand, not using moldable FRP (for a long time used to hand-carve large swaths of EPS).
The Albang design is for people to travel and make memories in a ‘unique’ place, not in an ‘ideal’ place.
