24 Social Housing Units

San Juan Rompeolas Kalea, Santurtzi, Spain

Firm
YEAR
2012
SIZE
300,000 sqft - 500,000 sqft
The building is located in a neighborhood in the outskirts of Santurtzi, in a predominantly industrial area that is currently being transformed. Situated on a plot that slopes sharply toward the Bilbao estuary with a predominant NW-SE longitudinal orientation and 39-foot bay, the homes have a dual orientation. Northeast was chosen for the bedrooms, providing sun early in the morning, and Southwest for the living rooms and kitchens. The design of the façade and air wells provides an optimal bioclimatic behavior.
