Mapos: a combination of “map” – meaning to map, strategize, and to help people find their way – and “os,” which stands for Open Source, a free sharing process where everyone’s input is valuable and essential.
Founded in 2008 by Colin Brice and Caleb Mulvena, Mapos is an integrated team of architects, designers, and hard-to-label creative instigators that works with clients and colleagues to design creative concepts, architectural environments, and experiential branding. We define our role in the most holistic and comprehensive way possible, in pursuit of projects that have depth and meaning for the people who inhabit them. Our work grows out of a keen interest in the type of person who will be living, sleeping, working, shopping, eating, and playing in the places we design.
We derive our inspiration from a project’s cultural and physical context – most of all from the community it will serve. We focus on the connections between people to the places that surround them to transform and elevate environments in which people thrive – no matter the scale – to find the best solution. This design process does not focus on a particular building type, but rather the people at the heart of the project. This creative approach invariably leads to engaging, effective, and beautiful places that people enjoy and want to come back to.
We have successfully designed a wide range of projects from retail and hospitality to residential and workspace. We place our clients and their communities in the middle of comprehensive and thoughtful design strategies that can involve master planning and community visioning; adaptive reuse and mixed-use development; landscape design; exhibits, events, installations and pop-ups; and branding and experience design.
