Hurst Song Architects was established in Zürich in 2008 by Alex Hurst and Suzanne Song. The office currently has residential projects under construction in Switzerland and participates in competitions and commisioned studies. Whether working with curators, developers or store managers, our approach is to generate an optimal and collaborative solution for each situation. Working transparently with clients with attention to planning and sustainabilty is intrinsic in the practice.
Their experience pulls from over 10 years of practice on a wide range of large and small scale international projects. Working in New York for Richard Gluckman and Hani Rashid provided a robust foundation for examining materiality, light, detail, technology and program in a variety of sectors. They have experience in designing galleries, museums, retail stores, housing, offices, government institutions, hotel and conference facilities, theaters, exhibitions and masterplans.
Alex and Suzanne have been involved in teaching at the GSAPP Columbia University, AA London and the ETH Zürich and actively participate as Guest Critics.
