Estúdio MRGB is an architecture and urban planning firm founded in 2004 in Brasília, Federal District. It brings together the experiences of architects, engineers, and professionals from various fields who collaborate on its architectural production.
The visual identity of the studio, characterized by the letters M R G B, has a close connection with Brasília. The acronym symbolizes the four scales that configure the city's architecture and urban planning – Monumental, Residential, Gregarious, and Bucolic. The admiration, respect, and recognition for the contribution of architect Lucio Costa, not only in the construction of the new capital of the Republic, a cultural heritage of Humanity, but also in the consolidation of the profession in Brazil, guide the practice and craft of architecture and urban planning at MRGB Studio.
The architectural production of the firm is directed by architects Igor Campos and Hermes Romão. It encompasses everything from simple objects to complex themes. The education and experiences acquired over years of professional practice enable the studio to work on programs related to public transportation, urban projects, cultural spaces, schools, residential buildings, commercial buildings, and hospitals.
The projects developed by Estúdio MRGB are classified as follows:
MONUMENTAL: These are projects whose artistic expression and the symbolic nature of the buildings and spaces conceived acquire significant representativeness in the urban context.
RESIDENTIAL: This category includes all projects that configure habitation, housing, and shelter in their particularities and specificities.
GREGARIOUS: This category gathers projects whose program characteristics provide spaces conducive to social interaction.
BUCOLIC: This category contemplates one of the fundamental pieces of the project: landscaping. The bucolic scale is essentially characterized by projects that address open areas aimed at enhancing the landscape and leisure.
Estúdio MRGB is one of the founding members of Atelier Piloto. The collective's intention is to promote interaction among students, professionals, and architecture schools through the organization of project workshops that foster collaborative work with a common goal: to think about the city.
