The Corona & Amaral + Associates studio in Santa Cruz de Tenerife consists of Architects Arsenio Pérez Amaral and Antonio Corona Bosch as founders, and Mark Senning as Associate Architect. The office originated from Corona and P. Amaral Architects, which, in collaboration with Eustaquio Martínez García, was formerly known as Ntres.
Throughout its history, the office´s work has been awarded, among others, with the first prize “Manuel de Oraa (5th Edition)” for the “Ferry Terminus Building”, which was also selected in the “Second Biennial of Spanish Architecture” and had several honourable mentions in the same Award (3rd, 6th, 7th, 8th and 10th edition). The office´s North Tenerife-Los Rodeos Airport Terminal was chosen for the “On Site: New Architecture in Spain“ exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York in 2006 and in Madrid in the same year.
In 2007, a retrospective of its work, titled “Insertions Immersions”, toured Morocco and the Canary Islands.
Its open commercial areas program of the Canary Islands, carried out between the years 1999-2001, won the European Communities Award, among others.
Since 2002, the office has acted as a consultant to the Open Commercial Areas Programme of the Canary Islands which aims to promote the commercial values of urban cores of the archipelago.
Since 2009, its experience in urban spaces management has been implemented in several cities in Morocco, such as Agadir, Taroudant or Talborjt.
The North Tenerife-Los Rodeos Airport expansion project; the adequacy of the emblematic Mencey Hotel, including the new construction of the Spa, gardens and car-park; and also the Jardín del Sol House, published in numerous architectural magazines all over the world; are among their most recent work.
The studio restored a small, XVIII century palace for a notary office in the historical centre of San Cristobal de La Laguna – their most important restoration project to date.
The studio has worked as local partners for other prestigious Architecture offices such as Herzog & DeMeuron, and Foster + Partners.
The first prizes for the “Expansion of the North Tenerife Airport” in 2009 and the “Los Cristianos Station of the south of Tenerife Train” in 2010, are some of the most important awards they have received among the long list of competitions they have participated in.
Since 2008, the company has implemented a Quality Management System, in accordance with the standard EN ISO 9001; and since 2009, an Environmental Management system, in accordance to the Standard UNE-EN ISO 14001.
