Established in 1996, Battersby Howat is a partnership between founders David Battersby and Heather Howat. Combining architecture, landscape architecture, and interior design, the practice offers a holistic approach to design.
The office is conceived as a collaborative studio endeavour, and pursues an architectural expression that embodies a spirit of contemporary living that is modest and without pretense. Our involvement in varying scales of privately commissioned work has included multi-family residential, private residences, gardens, art galleries, showrooms, office interiors, and custom furniture.
The work has been recognized by national and international awards and publications including the Canada Council’s Ron Thom Award for Early Achievement in Architecture, Canadian Architect Award of Excellence, and the Interior Design Institute of BC Award of Excellence.
