Renato Filippini, originally from Italy, has worked as an architect in Paris since 2003, when he set up the Atelier Filippini architecture and heritage firm.
Using expertise for which he became renowned in Italy, Renato specialises in rehabilitating historical buildings and museums. This experience has allowed him to establish an effective working relationship with the French architectural review board (Architectes en Chef des Monuments Historiques et des Bâtiments de France) for projects involving listed or protected sites or buildings.
Today, the office is moving towards a subtle and contemporary architectural approach based on integrating new buildings into historic contexts that are no longer always suitable.
With over 15 years’ experience developing in-depth knowledge of construction techniques used on heritage sites and a generous approach to architecture, Renato has won many public and private contracts in France, in particular carrying out rehabilitation and extension work.
For these projects, he carries out research on values associated with “inhabiting” sites, users’ comfort, natural lighting, operational efficiency, thermal performance and sustainable development.
In parallel to these architectural projects, the office develops furniture designs based on its research in the fields of materials, shapes and colors. These items are produced by Italian industrial design companies. This mastery of production processes and construction techniques allows the office to add high-quality finishing touches to architectural projects, especially interiors.
Renato and his team work to provide architecturally relevant and innovative solutions to all contracting authorities. Today, he ensures his projects incorporate bioclimatic design principles as part of a well reasoned environmental approach that is applied right from the design phase.
