Vacationers can soon consider trading in their Venetian gondola and mandolin player for a speedboat and bagpipes. A new $48 million dollar joint venture by ZM Architecture and Baca Architects will feature a water-based mini village that would certainly give any other luxury floating town a run for it's money. Complete with restaurants, shops, and a concert hall, the floating oasis will be a unique and modern leisure development right on top of Scotland's River Clyde.
The U-shaped town will include private flats, floating walkways, bridges, docks, and plenty of open green space. The firms also claim the 12-acre development will create up to 450 new jobs for locals and increase tourism, creating an economic boost for the area. The proposed plan, pending approval, is expected to be completed in 2020.
