Rather than string together a series of individual lights — a design practice that derives from the chandelier's historical use of candles — Roll & Hill's minimalist designs manipulate continuous bands and tubes of LED illumination, instantly giving the chandelier a modern update. With its multiple tiers of fluorescent rings, the Halo Chandelier cheekily references its conservative design predecessors, while the Rudi Single Loop pendant breaks out of the conventional form completely with its slender, vertical, ovoid shape that dangles like a piece of jewelry. The Endless chandelier, in particular, evokes the industrial aura of 1960's and 70's Minimalism, though thin black outlines and joints give the LED fixture a tamer and more refined aesthetic than your typical Dan Flavin.
