Ecole Maternelle Pajob by Palatre et Leclere Architectes
Gone are the days of nondescript neutrals flooding the halls of educational institutions. Today, the Ecole Maternelle Pajol is using color and design to stimulate and inspire students. The renovation, completed by Palatre et Leclere Architectes, was comprised of changes to both the indoor and outdoor spaces of the school. The façade of the building is complete with a full spectrum of colorful rays, creating a focal point out of the multi-level courtyard. Along with the blacktop mural and the vibrant portico, the courtyard of the school was designed as a symbol of optimism within the urban area.
Inside, school rooms and corridors are highlighted with a variety of colors intended to rouse spirits amongst children and staff. Geometric configurations run wild, covering the walls and furniture that's meant to stimulate the student's creative thinking. The renovation, which was also furniture design specific, also ensured that students and faculty would be spending their days in comfort by using tactile materials such as wood, metal and rubber on all the fittings.
