Building: Intergenerational Loft
Architect: Dangermond Keane Architecture
Why We Like This:
The secret to an amazing loft space is making sure there is enough privacy for each resident. This smart divided loft comfortably houses a couple, a daughter, and a grandmother. Dangermond Keane masterfully split the space into areas of private sanctuary for each individual that can open up to shared family spaces. With two levels, the loft also features a private inner elevator to connect an office and work studio with the home. Read the full project description here.
Rather than sectioning bedrooms off into the far corners, Dangermond Keane's design has private rooms at the center of the loft, outfitting them with varying levels of privacy while still integrating them into a public space. The grandmother's room has sliding oak doors that open to the dining room, while the granddaughter's bedroom features steel and glass doors that connect to the library. The unique utilization of space allows for work, play, and sleep to exist in a shared, warm family space.
