Raise your hand if you've ever gotten lost in a parking lot trying to find your car. Wouldn't it be nice to go to a mall or supermarket without wasting time driving in circles looking for a parking space (and then not remembering where we eventually did end up)? Well, as an alternative to the hassle of vehicle parking, Iglesias-Hamelin Architects has developed an easily accessible bike-parking station in a shopping center in Perpignan, France. Now that sounds like an A+ Award-worthy idea.
The bike-parking stations are located on the ground floor of El Centre Del Mon’s car park. The Alter Eco Boxes, which hold the bikes, are accessible through an automated paying system that also protects against theft.
Not only does the station offer cable locks to secure the bikes, but it also has restrooms and water fountains so sweaty cyclists can freshen up before embarking on their shopping excursions.
