The growing number of smartphone-controlled smart locks aren’t for everyone. Grandma, for example, doesn’t have a smartphone. In our age of super-savvy hackers, you may still have security concerns. And maybe just maybe, you’re not one of those booty-callin’ kids with their newfangled hook-up apps letting strangers upstairs at all hours of the night (Yves Behar even admits that’s a perk of his new August Smart Lock). The list of reasons goes on and on.
But if you would still like to modernize your home security, door hardware specialist Emtek’s new LISCIO electronic keypad leverset is a lower-tech smart lock alternative. It offers a sleeker version of the traditional security keypad that discreetly integrates the buttons directly into the minimally designed knob.
LISCIO arrives pre-programmed with two security codes that you may delete, alter, and add to as needed using an application for your smartphone. Synced by Bluetooth, your smartphone monitors the comings and goings through the locked door. Other features include the back-up key cylinder and a power indicator for its internal 9-volt battery. Its three finishes — polished chrome, satin nickel, or oil-rubbed bronze — are also weatherproofed, making them suitable for outdoor use.
In January, LISCIO will be on display at Las Vegas’s Kitchen and Bathroom Industry Show.
